Palliative Care - Rainbow Kids
Rainbow Kids is the pediatric palliative care program at Primary Children's Hospital. Rainbow Kids is a consultation service available to any children and families who are experiencing a chronic complex condition or a life-threatening illness. The program is here to help both the child and family deal with feelings, symptoms, and concerns during a time that may be confusing and overwhelming. Our team is available to assist you with your treatment goals of care.

We can guess, but never really know, how we will feel when a child dies. Grief is a normal response to loss, although the feelings can change over time. There a sense of profound absence. Many families speak of intense loneliness and sadness. Some parents speak of the presence of their child. Over time, you may experience bursts of new energy, or lingering questions, or regret, or relief, or all of these. Family dynamics and other relationships may change. One thing is certain: life is different, and it will never be the same.
