Amnioinfusion is a procedure used during pregnancy or labor in which a sterile fluid (usually saline) is introduced into the amniotic sac. At a fetal center, it is most commonly used to help improve conditions for the baby when amniotic fluid levels are low (oligohydramnios) or absent amniotic fluid (anhydramnios).
Conditions that may be treated with amnioinfusion:
At specialized fetal centers, amnioinfusion is performed by experienced teams using continuous monitoring to maximize safety and optimize outcomes for both mother and baby.
