The Grant Scott Bonham Fetal Center at Primary Children’s Hospital is here to provide you and your baby with the most up-to-date and coordinated care possible. When a fetus has been diagnosed with a high-risk condition, we bring together a multidisciplinary team of experts to address the baby’s and mother’s needs before, during, and after delivery
The Grant Scott Bonham Fetal Center includes maternal-fetal medicine specialists for the pregnant mother, neonatologists who are specially trained to care for newborns, and pediatric specialists for all your baby’s needs before and after delivery
We handle complex fetal cases, performing interventions like transfusions, laser treatments, and surgeries for conditions like spina bifida. Located close to the NICU, we provide continuity of care for newborns and support for parents. The Fetal Center serves a broad region, with convenient access via Salt Lake City’s airport, and offers hope to families facing challenging diagnoses
Ultimately, we aim to achieve the best possible outcomes for your baby and your family by:
Using cutting-edge technology to diagnose, monitor, and treat your baby
Improving communications between doctors, nurses, staff, and your family
Doing everything we can to prepare for and treat complications during and after complex fetal deliveries
State-of-the-art in utero and prenatal surgery for high-risk conditions
The Grant Scott Bonham Fetal Center team will review your case and our care coordinator will call you to welcome you and arrange your visit
Your care coordinator will organize your appointments with pediatric specialists and will arrange any special testing that you may need. Some of the specialists that you will meet may include a genetic counselor, social worker, and sonographer
You will also be seen by other medical specialists as necessary depending on your baby’s condition, including pediatric surgery, neurosurgery, urology, plastic surgery, and other disciplines. Some additional testing may include advanced ultrasound, fetal MRI, fetal echocardiogram, and amniocentesis. These tests will give us more accurate information about your baby and will help accurately assess the diagnosis and prognosis of your baby
After your evaluation, your case will be reviewed by a multidisciplinary team of doctors and specialist, including your OB/MFM, who will work together to create a personalized plan of care for you and your baby
